Time and again we keep hearing the term secularism thread
being damaged or under attack by Communal. Especially by some parties who have declared themselves as the saviors of secular threads in India.
What is Secularism? not long ago, some 15 years back, In school, I remember reading “India is a
secular country, where all religions, caste's and sects are treated equally”, but
fast forward, people are treated with lot of favoritism, mainly for vote bank. Every day we read charges and counter charges on the
secularism being spoil or under great threat !!
Well, very recently we have seen two incidents in Indian Politics.
1
A leading politician claimed he was a proud
Hindu Nationalist, and there it starts, anti Indian, anti secular, anti minorities
etc by all other parties and Medias. Just because an Indian national who is
Hindu says he a proud nationalist, what is wrong in it? Is it crime to call
himself / herself as a Hindu or nationalist? His statement made headlines and
breaking news in most of the media for long time
A so called secular party person said, Indian
Mujahideen is the result of Godhra incident!! It can’t be an irony than this.
Being a responsible person, he should have read history of Indian Militancy
clearly before making such statements or is it purposefully said to gain some
attention in media and some sects in society for vote purpose? How can a person justify the birth of such organizations
which are responsible for killing and destroying Indian assets?
Some sixty plus members of parliament have written letter to
a foreign country asking them not give Visa to an Indian CM. How shameless it
can be when Indian MP’s write to another country asking them not give
permission to fellow Indian. Definitely our people would be laughed at, in other country.
We also have some personalities, who will remember a particular
place to build temple, assuring to do so, if they come to power, but they
themselves ruled country for few years but dispute continued even then and off
course other parties will not allow it be completed. And that very place will be used a vote bank politics to grab more support
The best example can be of a CM who was in coalition with a
nationalist party for more than 15 years and for some vague reasons they broke truce.
And suddenly he and his party become secular and friends of other similar
secular parties... how can a party become secular or communal within hours of
breaking or joining hands with an outsider.
Communal and
Secularism must be the most ruthlessly used word in Independent India. No matter
what happens in any part of the country, these two words are popped up.
Media is also to be equally blamed for spreading this myth
of communal and secularism in the country. Media should be the guardian for all
the untoward incidents in society but there are many media houses which will
always support or against a particular sect / political party. Why are they
doing so...? Will always remain a mystery till someone reveals the nexus
between pillars of democracy.
Why that some politicians always remind 2002 Incident? Why
is that media is behind post Godhra incident and doesn’t want to talk about the
circumstance which lead to it. Yes, it’s truly sad to see people getting killed,
but there were hundreds of such inhumane thing happened in pre and post
independent India.
In fact 1984 riots were also against a particular sect, why
they are always ignored when courts have given many rulings against few “secular
party” leaders.
Let our rulers get the original idea of secular and start treating all of us in India, with equal rights, dignity and opportunity. Let us not be divided by them for sake of their votes.
No doubt lot of people have started feeling the biased
secularism and called it as pseudo secularism. Well it’s true as well, in
Kannada the pronunciation of the word pseudo (ಸುಡೊ)
means “to burn” and we all are felling it. I am sure; days are not far when we
feel the heat of this appeasements, double standards and insensitivity of politicians
towards fellow Indians and start dividing people & society in these lines. Expect
it will not happen... hopefully...
